“Connor’s music is unlike any sound coming out of the south; his wide range of influences resonate deeply in his sound … he will level you with emotions and hard lyrics.”

“The White Barry White” – a name given to Birmingham, Alabama born and bred musician, Connor McCullum as he decided to embrace the genre-bending project, Oxford Con. McCullum plays alongside some of Birmingham’s finest instrumentalists: Mila Oliveira (Drums), Alexzander Isaiah (Keys), Ian Keel (guitar), Tully Kay (Saxophone), and former saxophonist of St. Paul & The Broken Bones, Jamie Harper (Saxophone/Flute). The Oxford Con sound is a shape shifter of sorts with classic soul influences such as Marvin Gaye, Barry White, and Sam Cooke, along with a modern taste of alternative giants like D’Angelo, Frank Ocean, and Mac Miller.
Since the inception of Oxford Con in May of 2019, six singles have been released under the namesake lyrically covering themes from extreme sexual tension to severe mania and nostalgia. Sonically, each single differs entirely from the last, giving Oxford Con a uniquely diverse sound.
