“Marshall Ruffin is evidently some genetic experiment gone right, an amalgam of David Bromberg, Tom Waits and Leon Redbone.”
MARSHALL RUFFIN … soulful blues meets stimulating grunge
Marshall’s sophomore album, Morning Glory, was nominated for the 9th Annual Independent Music Awards Best Blues Album. Described as soulful blues meets stimulating grunge, the roots-rock and blues singer-songwriter-guitarist grew up in typical Americana, where science was at the fabric of his family. After finding a guitar in his attic at age thirteen, Marshall taught himself to play. Just several years later, he majored in jazz performance at the Berklee College of Music. It was while in Boston, Ruffin recognized and tapped into his songwriting skills and vocal gifts. Within a year after graduation, Marshall moved to Columbus GA for some Ma Rainey and Precious Bryant education, opened for dozens of regional and national artists, and signed with Jammates Records.
