Glories — Dwelling On

“I have a place reserved for “Mother Reverb” on my shortlist of favorite post rock releases at the end of the year. I have found myself going back to it often. And, if you are a fan of the EITS brand of post rock, you really should not miss this. I am not sure anyone is executing that model any better right now than Glories.”

— Stationary Travels

Glories, a post-rock collective of musicians based in Birmingham, AL, began composing music in the fall of 2011. Through creativity and a strong emphasis place on composition, Glories creates sweeping sounds and melodic themes that conjure an emotional response from the listener.

Disillusioned with the standard “rock band” and inspired by their post-rock forefathers, Glories forges ahead on their own path. After self-recording and releasing their first EP online, the band knew their songs needed a bigger sound and a proper release to capture their complete vision.

Their first full-length release, Mother Reverb (2013), was recorded at Ol Elegante Studio in Homewood, AL. Les Nuby (Verbena, Vulture Whale), and Brad Lightfoot (audio engineer for Bottletree Cafe, David Bazan, and Matt & Kim), assisted in the engineering and mixing of the record. Mother Reverb proved to be a successful freshman release that offered a glimpse of what is to be expected as the band pushes forward with is next release scheduled for the summer of 2014.
